The directorial debut of Gary Hustwit (producer of the award-winning Wilco documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart) focuses on one of the most ubiquitous typefaces in the world. Through rare interviews with a range of illustrious graphic designers and typographers, including Matthew Carter, Massimo Vignelli, Wim Crouwel, Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister, Michael Bierut, David Carson, Paula Scher, and Experimental Jetset, Helvetica tracks a typeface drawn by a little-known Swiss designer from the late 1950s to the present. An encore screening will begin at 9:30pm. 2007, U.S., video, 80 minutes.

UPDATE: With the high interest in Gary Hustwit's film Helvetica, which quickly sold out two shows, the Walker has added an additional screening on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 pm. Director Gary Hustwit will not be present at this screening.
